About the Common Blue
The most widespread blue butterfly in Europe. Males are violet-blue above, while females are mostly brown with orange spots. Caterpillars feed on bird-foot trefoil and other legumes and are often tended by ants, which feed on their sugary secretions. It was accidentally introduced to Canada and was found there for the first time in 2005.
