About the Common Clothes Moth

A small golden moth whose caterpillars damage wool, fur, silk, and feathers. They can digest keratin, a tough protein few animals can break down. The adults do no damage and do not feed. Prefers dark, undisturbed places such as closets. Unlike most moths, adults avoid light and tend to run rather than fly. Has spread worldwide with human trade.
