About the American Lady
A close relative of the Painted Lady. It can be told apart by two large eyespots on its hindwing underside, while the Painted Lady has four smaller ones. Its caterpillars feed on everlastings and other cudweeds and build silk shelters on the plant. Adults fly fast and erratically. It strays to Europe and the Atlantic islands.
