About the Luna Moth
One of the most beautiful moths with pale green wings and long, elegant tails. Their wingtails spin as they fly, confusing bat echolocation. Active only at night. Like atlas moths, they have no mouthparts and live about one week as adults. Their tails can be 10 cm long. Attracted to lights, they are the most commonly seen giant silk moth in North America. Caterpillars prefer walnut, hickory, and birch.
