About the Emperor Moth
The only member of the silk moth family resident in Britain. Each wing carries a large eyespot. Males fly by day across heath and moor, following scent trails released by females. Their feathery antennae can detect a female from a remarkable distance. Collectors have long used caged females to attract males. Caterpillars feed on heather and bramble.
