About the Hummingbird Hawk-moth
Looks and behaves exactly like a hummingbird — hovers in front of flowers, beats wings 80 times per second, has a long proboscis like a bill. They can see in near-darkness and are active at dawn and dusk. One of the few insects that can remember visual cues for navigation. Migrate long distances across Europe. Often mistaken for actual hummingbirds by casual observers. Can maintain a body temperature of 40C.
