About the Poplar Hawk-moth
A large gray hawk-moth that rests with its hindwings pushed forward ahead of its forewings, giving it the look of a bundle of dead leaves. When disturbed it flashes a rusty red patch on the hindwings. Adults do not feed. Caterpillars feed on poplars and willows. One of the most common hawk-moths in Europe.
