About the White-lined Sphinx
A hawk-moth with white-lined brown forewings and a pink band on each hindwing. It hovers in front of flowers while drinking nectar and is often mistaken for a hummingbird. Flies at dusk and also by day. In desert years with good rains its caterpillars can appear in enormous numbers. Native peoples of the American Southwest once gathered them as food.
